Meet the Team

Stephanie Walters

Founder - Head Voice Teacher

Stephanie Walters has been teaching voice professionally since 2016. Her journey into performance began as a child, but her love for teaching was discovered when she enrolled in graduate school at New York University, studying Vocal Performance (specializing in Musical Theatre) and Vocal Pedagogy. When she realized how impactful evidence-based voice training could be for both herself and her students, the spark of a lifelong passion of learning was lit. Now, she takes every opportunity to attend conferences and workshops, as well as read every vocal pedagogy book she can get her hands on. Stephanie is a teacher who believes in learning a wide variety of methodologies, and crafting her own unique toolbox to offer to singers.

In addition to her work as a teacher Stephanie also has a deep love for performance, and can be seen frequently performing locally in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. When she is not performing or teaching, she is spending quality time with her dog and her husband, or planning her next scuba diving trip!

Kayla Younkin

Associate Voice Teacher

Kayla is absolutely thrilled to be an associate teacher with Arbor Voice Studios! She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University where she majored in Music and minored in Theatre Arts. Kayla has been singing and performing all across Southeast Michigan for over 15 years, and she has truly found her home in the performing arts. Whether she is on the stage, behind the keys, music directing, or teaching, she continues to seek new skills and knowledge within her craft. In 2023, she took that a step further by starting in the Voice Teacher Mentorship Program with Stephanie Walters, and has developed her love of voice science ever since. No two voices are the same, and that’s what makes voice lessons so exciting! She looks forward to creating a safe, collaborative and creative space where all are welcome to come in and explore the magic that is their voice.
